The Asia Pacific Cyber Challenge 2025 (APCC25) promises to be another exciting and educational hybrid competition, bringing together teams of three players from universities and professional organisations. Building on the success of previous events, which have attracted teams from across the Asia-Pacific region, APCC25 provides a platform for participants to demonstrate their capability to respond to cybersecurity incidents.
Competitors will face a series of challenges, including technical puzzles ranging from networking and digital forensics to reverse engineering and malware analysis. Technical tasks may also be accompanied by non-technical puzzles. Teams earn points for each successful solution, and hints are available for a small penalty to assist with more challenging tasks.
This challenge requires capability to handle and respond to various cyber incidents which involves various technical puzzles from different fields, such as
networking, digital forensics, reverse engineering and malware analysis. Technical
tasks may also be accompanied by non-technical puzzles to encourage innovative
problem-solving approaches. Teams demonstrate their capability to respond to
cybersecurity incidents. Points are awarded for each successful solution, and
hints can be unlocked for small penalties to assist with the challenges.
This is a five-hour challenge then follow by prize-giving
ceremony. We are currently working on putting together awesome
prizes for the first, second and third places. The rest of the participants will get
Certificate of Participation.
We anticipate that most participants will be experienced CTF players. However,
those joining for the first time will be briefed and guided accordingly via the
challenge questions. We will provide strict "Rules of Engagement" prior to the
challenge.
APCC2025 is a five-hour competition where teams of three players from
universities or professional entities tackle a variety of cybersecurity related
challenges.
We are targeting around 50 teams (of 3) from the Asia-Pacific countries and beyond
to participate in the challenge. As we expect observers, a link will be set up for
those who wish to watch. A few e-sport commentators will provide live commentary
on the teams’ performances and the progress of the challenge.
Based on past experience, most of the participants are Cybersecurity Professionals from various domains such as Incident Response, Digital Forensics, Security Risk and Compliance, Security Events Analyst and Threat Hunting/SOC etc.. Some participants are
students while others are professionals from the industry and critical sectors.
People are essential for Cyber incident response. The goal of this event is to
develop more cyber incident response and digital forensics experts both nationally
and internationally. We aim to showcase their technical and problem-solving skills.
Through events like this, companies and organisations can discover talented
individuals from around the world.
Yes. The challenge is focused on Cyber Incident Response and Digital Forensics
Capabilities. The challenge questions begin with basic and fundamental
knowledge required of a Cyber Incident Responder and gradually encourage
participants to seek more information, use various tools as needed, and exercise
clear communications while managing the pressure of finding the right solutions
to move forward.
Participation in the event is governed by strict rules:
